In the March NEWSLETTER we will discuss the use of a new retaining wall system that allows for the change in slope needed while providing a Bioengineered softer approach to hardscaping. Replacing block walls, cement gabions or rip rap with sustainable designs that are softer and greener is a common theme among designer wishing to keep their projects looking more like natural green areas. The use of products like Filterexx Living Walls involves stacking FilterSoxx on top of one another in a recessed bank situation, with backfill media filling in apparent open voids. The use of walls such as this allows the introduction of native vegetation into the system and allows it to become established before it washes away. The reinforcement provided by the Filtersoxx allows a good growing media, a nurse crop, irrigation and proper staking to increase chances of success for establishment.

March Madness:
Why is the death penalty called capital Punishment? The capital in capital punishment has nothing to do with the seat of government. The word derives from the Latin caput, meaning head. The original punishment for a capital crime was the loss of one’s head.
The SouthWestern Bell Company’s Yellow Pages mistakenly listed the Elloit-Hamil Funeral Home in Abilene Texas under "Wholesale Frozen Foods".
In the US one out of every three potatoes end up as French Fries.
They have square watermelons in Japan because they say they stack better. |
